भारतीय राज्यघटनेत सर्व जाती-धर्माच्या आधारे लोकांना समान हक्क मिळावेत यासाठी आरक्षणाची सुविधा देण्यात आली आहे. यासाठी केंद्र शासन व राज्य शासनाकडून मागासवर्गीय व इतर मागासवर्गीयांना जातीच्या प्रमाणपत्राद्वारे आरक्षणाचा लाभ दिला जातो. आरक्षणाचा लाभ घेण्यासाठी नागरिकाकडे जात प्रमाणपत्र असणे आवश्यक आहे. ज्याद्वारे त्यांना शासनाच्या विविध योजनांचा लाभ सहज मिळू शकतो.
10 वी 12 विच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना उच्च शिक्षण घ्यायचं म्हटलं तर जात प्रमाणपत्र हे अनिवार्य केलं आहे. उच्चमाध्यमिक प्रवेशांसाठी विविध आरक्षण आणि सवलती मिळवण्याच्या हेतूने विद्यार्थी व पालकांना कागदपत्रांची जुळवाजुळव करावी लागते. परंतु जात प्रमाणत्र काढण्याची प्रोसेस खूपच अवघड असते हे आधीच त्यांच्या डोक्यात बसलेलं असल्याने ते जात प्रमाणपत्र काढण्यास टाळाटाळ करतात. परंतु आता शासनाने जात प्रमाणपत्रे काढण्याची प्रोसेस ऑनलाईन आणि अंत्यंत सोपी केल्याने फक्त 8 ते 10 दिवसांतच ते काढू शकता. एखाद्या विद्यार्थ्याला जर अर्जंट दाखला हवा असेल तर तो एका दिवसातही मंजूर की जात आहे.
